    Hi there,

I'm currently in 1st year science and doing fairly well, however i'm worried about not getting my choices for next which are anatomy, physiology and pharmacology (which have the lowest amount of places for 2nd year subjects).
My average in my lab reports for chemistry is 98.7%, my average for my physics labs is 90% and i don't know my avg in bio labs because they don't give them to you! My biology mcq tests have all been 88% so far and I've been attending most of my clicker sessions! I have also gotten 100% in my 4 assignments for maths, anyways my question is i'm worried because i haven't done much study for the end of semester exams which are worth 30% and i'm afraid i will do mediocre in them! If i do every bit of work needed of me in semester two, what are the chances of me getting my 2nd year choices if i did mediocre in this semesters exams?

Sorry for the long winded explanation.

I'm currently in 3rd year general science and study Physiology and Biochemistry. Like yourself I was worried about not getting into physiology in 2nd year because there are so few places allocated. I think 26 when I went for Physiology? At the end of first year I got 3A's and 1B and that was mostly due to CA. I think CA was worth 40% in my first year but I could be wrong. Having said that, "fairly well" is an understatement to what I think you're doing. In my opinion you're putting in more effort into first year than some first year science students I know.

CA seems to be worth more now these days so if you're already getting A's in your lab exams and reports that's half the battle. The exams aren't as difficult as you might think and by the sounds of things you'll get all the choices you want.

Enjoy the subjects! I know a few people who took those subjects and loved them. They become a bit demanding in 3rd year but that's expected!

Former biomed student here, went through anatomy, physiology and pharm. Different situation to general science I suppose because I didn't need any results from 1st year to get those subjects (and thank god for that because I drank my life away in 1st year and was lucky to show up for exams) but if I were you I'd chill out. You're doing unreal, you'll probably get your subjects, no worries. No-one studying these subjects you want to do is some super genius they're normal people like yourself, and you're clearly doing better than about 99% of your year with your results so take it easy. First year exams are great anyway, if you have any MCQs enjoy them, they are the handiest exams you'll sit in college (provided there's no negative marking, which I don't think there is except for med students).

Thank yo both so much for your replies!

I honestly havent done much study for these end of semester exams but hey no time like the present!

Ca is still worth 40% which is a plus, however there is negative marking in the mcq's! But there still pretty easy! :)
