Really loud washing machine

The washing machine sounds like it's on it's last legs, spinning really loudly. From reading around it sounds like the bearings are gone, and better to replace than repair. Just wondering if I can keep using it until it just stops altogether? It's cleaning the clothes fine.

    How old is it.?
Make and model, (written inside the door surround)
Can you do the job yourself.?
    Has the warranty expired.?

to answer your question , yes you can until either it throws off the belt or blows a fuse if the drum drops enough to cut through the heating element, for most users its replacement time

Is there not a possibility it could cause clothes to get specs of oil, if the seal leaks?

I've known of people to get clothes destroyed with oil from presumably the shaft/bearings fail?

    Yes. True. This often happens.

Its not unbalanced by any chance?

An unbalanced washing machine can get real noisy and violent when its hits top spin speed.
