    Hi there,

I'm moving house in the next two weeks. I'm on casual JSA and where i'm moving is in a different postcode so it'll be a different Social welfare office i'll be dealing with.

Anyone know what they'd need from me or how long it takes to transfer over?

    Thanks

You will have to call into the sw office in your new location and ask for your claim to be transferred. They will need proof of address...a tenancy agreement should suffice. They should have your claim within a couple of days.

If you receive any social welfare payments, such as Child Benefit or Jobseekes Benefit or Jobseekers Allowances you will need to contact your local social welfare office to let them know your new address.

They will require proof of your new address, such as a utility bill or bank statement. If your new home is in a different area your details should be passed on to the local social welfare office in that region.

Great thanks! That's great that all they need is proof of address. I thought they were going to all for loads of stuff as usual!

    Hi again,

So social decided to do a review of my means. So they asked for bank statements, payslips, employer forms etc etc

They sent me last week a review of my earnings (i'm earning a small bit more after recent pay increase) and what casual JSA I'll be entitled to.

I can't seem to make it out as it has a table etc but not a final figure of what i'd get. The last line has my daily means at €69 and I work 3 days a week so does that mean I get nothing.

I earn €350 before tax is deducted but they had down as €332 even though I put down €350. For the 3 days so I worked it out as 350 - €60= €290 x 60%= €174

    So i'd get €14 a week??

I previously earned €300 a week and received €44 when I worked the 3 days.

    Thanks

I make you daily means out to be €58 going on €350 figure. Which would result in you receiving €14 pw if you work 3 days. Are there means from any other source? If your not happy with the means result our unsure how to interpret it then go into you local office and ask how they came at the figure and if your still not satisfied then appeal the decision.

    Thanks

Ya that's what I got aswell. Think they made a mistake calculating daily means but the weekly means they calculated correctly at €163.24 based on the fig of €332 per week they came to. I have no other means taken into account.

The had a table with what I earned over 13 weeks - €4316.91(as they asked to get a form filled in over 13 week period) Divided that figure by 13 to get €332

For some reason when calculating the daily means they divided total earned over 13 weeks by assessment period of 32 days??= €134.90 then disregarded €20 which that part is right = €114.90 and then got 60% of it= €68.94 rounded up to €69.

Does that look like a mistake?

I'll give them ring I suppose but hate dealing with them so was trying to figure it out myself :)

I can see where they came by their figure. You worked 32 days within the 13 week period and earned €4316.91. I am presuming they had to use an average figure because you dont have the same earnings each week. If you earnings and number of days worked are the same each week then appeal their decision. Perhaps your worked more hours/days over the Christmas period and this is skewing the figures and is not a true reflection of your normal earnings or work pattern.

Thanks I worked only two days p/w as far as I can remember for two/three of the weeks over the 13 week period so that less not more so def think there's something strange there.

I tried ringing the local office a number of times but I can never get through. This morning I got a letter to say that its been decided that my claim has been denied so basically i'll be getting nothing.

I'm so surprised. My work's busy period is before Christmas and January so it'll be getting quieter so I will prob be on two days p/w soon. So will they keep sending me dockets or is my claim totally finished?

I'll have to call in if I can't get them on the phone but won't be able til next Tuesday.

    Thanks

Are they saying you are means in excess?

Ya the letter said that the deciding officer has decided that i'm not entitled to payment on the grounds that I have not shown that my means are less than the weekly rate of Jobseekers Allowance appropriate to your family circumstances.

I presume that's just the normal wording as its only myself taken into consideration and my bank balance is no where near the max amount before they make deductions from a payment.

It says in the letter if i'm not satisfied I can provide documentary evidence that I think is relevant to the case and the decision will then be reviewed by a deciding officer.

I gave them everything so I don't know what else I could provide?

Also thanks so much for all your help eastbono!

Oh wait it just occurred to me that i dropped in the last documents into the box outside the office on the evening of 10th of feb and they had to be in by the 11th or my claim would be closed.

The letter I received today was dated yesterday so could they not of yet seen the documents? ?

It looks to me like you have been disallowed as you have not disclosed your means. And yes the docs that you handed in are probably what they were looking for. Go into the office and tell them that you handed in the docs requested and bring copies with you.

    Hi there

So I went in yesterday and they had received the documents by then but I was still not entitled as she said my means was too much at €69 deducted for every day worked and atm i'm working 3 days a week.

Also though she was insistent I provide a lease which I had told them already I don't have. I'm renting a room and a girl moved out before christmas and there's another moving in next week but have no clue of her details to give them.

They were saying your hardly living there alone and paying x rent! Lots of ppl don't have leases and I was never asked for one in my last place. A bill in my name sufficed.

Is this a new thing they are insisting on?

    Thanks

A bill in your name should suffice.
