Applied for this job. There are maybe a few old threads, I want to start a fresh one, give Spar a chance.

Anyway, went for an interview for this job today starting rate is 22k, 45 hours a week.

In my current job retail also less the management part I am on 16k after tax, 30 hours a week.

Would I be mental to take up this role for an extra 6k per year.

Anyone any ideas on it. I have superstore experience with sales close to the million mark per week would be my experience level for over 5 years there too.

Anyone work in a Spar as a manager, what would a store manager be on, assistant manager etc?

Why would you be mad. You will be getting paid a bit more but you will now have access to managerial training.

The only thing it would be mad for is if you have no interest in management

No I do have an interest in management. Just with only experience with one company that looks after me quite well and pays me well for 30 hours and friends telling me horror story's of not getting time off, no holidays, all of which is against the law anyway I am just sceptical.

Well got offered the job. I am in two minds really, it's 22K and the shop it seems fine just the location. It is in the middle of housing estate in a ruff part of the city, talking to a few people who live in the estate they have said it get's robbed/held up regularly and large gangs of youths do be around the shop. I dunno if it's worth the hassle or will it be open much longer. Anyone got any experience on this?
