    Hi

I applied for medical expenses refund on 11/11/14.

The request went through and the status has been set to modified since then with no sign of payment been made.

Does anyone know roughly how long this takes?

    Thanks

Was it through Paye Anytime and did you receive a P21 stating a refund was due?

You had the option to receive that electronically as well as providing your bank details for any refund due to be lodged to that account. The p21 should state how the refund will be paid on page 1.

    Thanks a million.

Another question I have. I really dont have a clue about tax as you can probably tell.

    Personal Tax Credit
    1,650.00

    PAYE Tax Credit
    1,650.00

    Flat Rate Expenses
    12.80

    Net

    3,312.80
    Gross Tax Credits
    3,312.80

    Can i claim this back

That is not tax to claim back. Tax credits are part of how the tax system works. There is a link below to assist you in understanding the system.
But in a nut she'll you have standard rate cut off and credits.
Step 1. Single standard rate band of 32800 euro for the year means you can earn up to 32800 at the 20% and anything above is taxed at 41%.

So say you earn 30000 for the year, you are due to pay 30000 @ 20% which is 6000. You now have the second part of the tax system come into play. The standard tax credits you have of 3300 are deducted from that 6000 to give you the actual tax due to be paid. So on a 30000 salary you would pay 2700 euro.
If you then have additional tax reliefs or credits to claim, they should result in refunds to you.
