What are my rights with warranty.
This guy had it in the reciept of a second hand car that i bought that it included 6mths parts and warranty.

The clutch is now gone after 4mths and he is backing away from the warranty and not taking responsibility for fixing the car. He said that he will cover half of the parts. but will not get it fixed.

What are my rights on this???

Clutch is a consumable part that generally isn't covered by dealer warranties. How old is the car? And what is it? Model, engine etc?

    09 Mondeo, 1.8 Diesel.
    200K on clock.
    What parts do i need?
Dual Mass Fly Wheel + clutch?
Also any idea how much would it cost to install it if i get the parts?

What are the symptoms of the clutch issue?

Is it 5 speed or 6 speed?

200K? If it was a low mileage car, maybe within the first year, you might get a dealer to replace a clutch for free, not a hope at that mileage. Half the parts is quite fair.

    200km on clock. 6 speed,
Symptons - noise when out of gear last few days.
Lost gears driving last night, managed to get home by pressing the clutch 50-75% and doing around 40KM/hr

I think the seller is making you a very fair offer

I got mine done earlier in the year, same car. Got my own local guy to do it for €1100. It's fairly labour intensive

You're lucky he's willing to cover any of the costs

You can burn out a clutch in a week. Be thankful you're getting anything. I'd be telling you to go swing unless you were buying 3-4 cars every few years.

Being technical about it, you could do a clutch in less than a few minutes if you were really trying.

Mondeo clutch is an utter pita to do as well. Subframe fun. A clutch is a consumable, the fact he's offering to cover any of the parts bill is more than fair. 200k too... the flywheels probably creamed as well, so then there's the starter motor....

How long is a piece of string?
No one can tell you what a garage will charge, you will have to go and get a quote.
A poster said he paid 1100e total, bite that sellers hand off and accept his goodwill.

My mate is a cabbie and his clutch on an 08 mondeo cost him 1200.

OP, 2 quick Google searches would have told you that clutches are not part of warranties and the Mondeo 1.8 is a pig of a job.

You mean you rode the clutch all the way home?, sounds weird to be sure

Did you accept his goodwill with goodwill? :D

It sounds like he was very decent about it.

What parts did you get ?? Dont think I have ever done a clutch without doing the flywheel in one of those 1.8 tdci's you will also need a slave cylinder/release bearing the bearing doesnt come as part of a kit.
