Drainage and landscaping

I know this question might be how long is a piece of string.

So I have roughly 1.5 acres of land around my house, I want to landscape the 1 acre field over the coming years.

But before I start I think I will need to ensure the drainage is good, the land is sloping. It will be my intention to land scape flatter areas with perhaps retaining walls and kind of have levels.

I think I will need to perhaps digg out some kind of drainage systm for when the weather is wet.

Could someone perhaps outling with is invloved with this and any idea of cost would be great!

To be honest without looking at the site anybody here would only be making a stab in the dark.

Perhaps you could get a drainage contractor in to price the job for you.

What size retaining wall are ya talkin?
We've an 8ft retaining wall with a drainage pipe the other side of it that's hopefully taking the ground water away.
But without knowing where the water is and where ya want it to go I can't see how we can help

Here is a google map screen shot.

The red along the house is where I have a drainage pipe alread.
There is no draining where I have the red line that runs along the road but I am thinking this is where I need to put it?
I want to build the retaining wall where I have the blue. There is an embankement there already from when the founds for the house where dug out, so building the wall will mean I lessen the embankment slope then just have a wall and a drop, the wall will be around 6ft high.

The land you see here is 1.5 acres.

if there is a slight slope towards the red line, or even flat , you could just put down 5/6 drains towards this. you could use drainage stone to fill them, (dearer option, or pencil , cheaper option) and then plough it. for a field that size, provided you have a contractor close by who does not have to bring the machinery too far + who knows what he is doing, it would work out cheap enough

The slope runs down the direction of the road and where the house is it would run toward the road hence the draining along the bottom of the embankment, halfway down it flattens out so although still running down slightly it no longer would run toward the road.

When you say cheap do you have any numbers you can think it would be in around assuming they do not come far (which they won't).
