I think its about time that we think about making this a private forum for all the purists here!

Together we can wear our anoraks with pride, compare radio frequencies, makers of binoculars and for how many hours we waited by an airport to see the latest livery from a visiting airline and giggled like an excited schoolgirl at an arrival that we havn't seen before!

In winter months we can huddle around the virtual open fire and discuss winter routes, and speculate about who is going where and what will come here and all those shiny metal tubes that we will see in Summer, which we all know begins in April.

Finally, and most importantly we can answer the age old question which is just important as how did they get the figs into the fig rolls, when will Ryanair go transatlantic and will their be personal TVs on my next Aer Lingus flight?

    So, anyone in?????

(I have far too much time on my hands this morning!)

Certainly could make a section of it an inner sanctum private and leave the outer core for those wondering how to post Christmas presents to sligo open.

No humour in moderation, somebody has to keep your crazy ideas in check ;-)

I remember a few years ago when a thread in here got really heated one of the instigators on a final ban warning told a moderator to "cool his fan blades before he gets a master caution".. He got banned but It was the funniest comment to this day in this forum :-)

It depends on what the qualification requirements are but having no connection to the industry and being only an enthusiast, I suspect I might not qualify. That'd be a huge loss for me and I'd miss this forum. I'd vote for it to remain public.

Oh sweet jesus!!!! Can I point out that the thread was made in jest and poking fun at ourselves for our nerdy interest.

    Inserts smiles:

Qualifications required: possession of an anorak, a set of binos, a book of regs, an airband reciever, a tolerance of nerds, a disdain for non-aircraft anoraks, a willingness to stand outside airport fences for hours, no wife/GF, no other mates, rainproof clothing is a must, as is a hat......

Make that Boeing or Airbus labeled clothing, a fishermans hat and a stepladder.

Heard a rumor that anyone near the fence has to have a hi viz?

Heard a story before of a complete aircraft anorak type, he was waiting for a bus in the Western suburbs of Cork City.

Some plane made an approach to 17, your man was so busy looking up at it he didn't notice the bus and the driver carried on without him.
