Rain Fade on Triax 80cm

    Hi all

I have a Triax 80cm dish with a Quattro LNB and multiswitch for 28.2E, along with single LNBs for 19E and 13E all on the same dish. This was installed by a reputable company here in Cork.

Originally it was set up with 13E as the main focus and 19E and 28.2E as the offset, but we were suffering significant rain fade on 28.2E (which is obviously the mainly-watched box!), so the guys came back out and changed it so that the 19E was the main focus, and it all worked for a while.

Now however we're getting the same problems again, with channels disappearing in the rain, and some channels are missing entirely all the time (eg 3e, which I have read could be a skew issue).

    1) Is there anyone in the Cork area who you would recommend who could come out and realign for me?
    2) Would it be best to have 28.2E as the prime focus of the dish, given this is the most watched satellite in the house?
    3) If 2 is yes, then would it be a reasonably simple job to move the LNBs on the arm they are attached to, putting the 28.2 LNB in the middle, and realign the dish? I've got a signal finder and have had some experience of aligning dishes (as a hobby) before.

    Thanks good people :)

In my experience a Triax td78 is not big enough for 13, 19 and 28 in Cork .
Either 13 or 28 is going to be compromised .
I would recommend one of these :
    A separate dish for 28 ( preferred option) .
A diseq motor instead of multi -lnb setup .
    A larger dish ( Triax TD88 or TD110)
    Scrapping 13 e

EDIT : motor won't work for you as using multiswitch and Quattro .

Yes, TD88, BUT also many installers don't fit the bar upside down. The default maximum slope is too little for Ireland. Swapping it round allows proper slope for 28E to 9E.
