    Question for Organic Farmers:

I know that you can elect to farm part of your farm organically. i.e. not all your land.

Question is if you have organic cattle on the land designated for organic farming scheme can you keep non organic cattle on the land not designated for organic farming?

Also, can you do this with one herd number or how does it work, if allowed?

You will need completely separate facilities for organic and non organic parts of the farm.

Do you mean one crush for organic and one crush for conventional, can they not be housed together in organic conditions?

I don't know the full details, we had a Teagasc organics rep at our Options course and she said separate facilities would be needed. Since I have mostly commonage and it can't be got on commonage I wasn't listening as carefully as if I could apply myself.

how much meal would one be feeding a day per cow for winter milk and spring milk in organics. I know no one can be exact but say presuming silage quality was good and how much meal would be given with average quality silage?
organic ration is anything from 500-600 a tonne depending on delivery etc..
