    anyone got a translation, in my daughter 3rd class irish book, even the teacher is unsure? google translator doesn't know, can't find in irish dictionary!

    Can you post the whole sentence? It could be a typo, but the context would make it easier to figure out.

    Possibly a diminutive of "leac" (licín: slab => small slab of wood or concrete) or, more likely, a counter (for example in a kitchen).

    Would love to but it's a word list they have to learn to spell!

    It has an oval shape beside it as the pictorial.

    Licín is a counter, such as you would use for Snakes and Ladders.
