Well water test

I've recently purchase a rural cottage that has it's own well.
I believe it's a bore hole one with a submersible pump.

Before we move in we are going to get tests done on the water.
The EPA have a list of private companies that offer a discount on the tests:

Maybe I'm been paranoid here but am I right to fully trust the results any private company provides me?
For example - a lot of them offer additional services related to water treatment. Therefore it's potentially beneficial to them if there are issues with our water quality.

Should I use a private company to test our water or are there public bodies that will do just as good a job but with no vested interests?

    Thanks
