Hi we are moving to cork in july 2015. We are looking around clonakilty area. Our big problem at the moment is we plan to rent before we buy and once we start our children in a new school we dont want to move them again so we were thinking around clon so at least when it comes to buy if we choose an area just outside clon we can keep children in same school and wont have too far to travel to take them to school. We need some advise about schools as i have no idea of schools in clonakilty. Any help regarding schools we would be very greatful. Our children are 9 , 5, 3 1.

    Many thanks

trust me when I say your big problem isn`t renting , when we moved to Chile, we thought we found the perfect school Bi-lingual, not too big not too small, school bus at the front door and we get to live in the quieter part of the town, not that the town had anything to offer, but we wanted a quiet life, so we built a house!, turned out the school was not for us, even if it was run by British family. so we then had to move to the nearest city, rent an apartment which proved very stressful moving between the two addresses, our teenagers want to stay in the city, and our younger two long for the space and quiet of the campo!
To do it all again in July for us, we will rent a bigger house for a few years first then buy later on.
and we have spoken to the kids, that maybe the first school won`t fit so keep options open for change!, just our experience. Kids grow up and their preferences will change and so will your life, wish you best of luck, please share any info regarding primary schools as we also have two that age. and in our investigations will also keep you posted on our finds.

Do you want single sex or mixed? Religious ethos? Irish or English speaking?

Hi, we prefer , not too religious, although they are Catholic,
mixed is not a problem, just well managed.
English please, I don`t think after schooling in spanish they would appreciate us putting them into Irish school!
    Thank you for your time!
    :)
