Ooh, I like the look of that.

Just watched it I really can't warm to Katherine Heigl at all.

Saying that I enjoyed the pilot and will give it a chance for a few more episodes.

I liked it. Not sure if it will have the staying power though. I'll watch another few.

The reviews aren't exactly glowing yet, dunno how much effect that has on viewer sentiment over there. It's not a great start when there is so little good will for its main star before it even aired either.

I thought it was middling, not terrible but not sure if I'd bother with it again.

    Really enjoyed episode 2.

Started this today and its impossible to like Hiegl, she's a terrible actress and there's a distance in most of her roles that just makes her unlikeable. Her character here feels like the hard ass bitch role that rarely works and there's no way Hiegl has the ability to pull it off.

Still the supporting cast are great and the writing is strong though the whole conspiracy angle is a little bland given that we've seen it so many times recently. I can see myself sticking with the show as I like Joe Carnahan and anything that allows more James Remar is to be cherished.

I still like it. The conspiracy element isn't strong, but the weekly stories are very good. The rescue of the Nigerian girls (last week? - can't remember) was a fantastic scene - well shot and very tense.

I must be the only one who think's Heigl is gorgeous (I didn't get sucked in to Greys, so that hasn't tainted her in my eyes). :)

Yup I'm enjoying the show myself as well. I'm not greatly bothered about the consipiracy angle but it's fine. The last one I saw was the submarine story which I thought was very powerful. I was surprised as, judging by the comments on here, I was all set to dislike it quite a bit but it's far from the case. It's a great show. +1 on Heigl as well. Definitely a looker and I certainly wouldn't object to partnering up with her for some undercover work ;).

Heigl is attractive but there's a coldness and distance to her that's impossible to warm to, I've never Grey's Anatomy but I've seen her in a number of other things and she's always been poor. Even in State of Affairs she's the weak link, it's the supporting cast who do all the heavy lifting.

Episode 2 was excellent, a genuinely moving piece of TV and Carnahan's direction was superb. He really brought a cinematic feel and the scenes in the sub were superb, the final scene in it felt very similiar to the end of The Grey.

I noticed another Heigl in the credits as an Executive Producer and figured out via IMDB that it's Catherine's mother so it sounds like a family affair. The show is obviously built round Catherine as a vehicle for her talents! I haven't found her that cold but in this case it kind of works as she's somehow responsible for getting her fiancee, and the president's son, killed. I'm a bit behind now as my cousins and the post haven't been too reliable of late so I must watch some more soon.

I got turned off Heigl from her time Roswell which was a fun show that she also acted on and pissed off her co stars.

She is pretty but as Darko say there is a coldness there that I just can't warm to at all also she is not a great actress and is the weakest part of whatever show shw is on.

Saying that I am still enjoying the show in the same way I like Scandal even thought I feel the same way about Kerry Washington as I do Heigl.

Not so much a family affair as it is a package deal, if you cast Heigl you have to take on her mother too.
A lot of people involved in the industry hate mother and daughter. There's numerous stories about how her mother went on foul mouthed tirades attacking everyone from producers to the guy who gets the coffee. They make ridiculous demands and its not uncommon for productions to fall behind due to the fact that Heigl junior will refuse to leave her trailer, will pick apart the s riot every day and make demands and generally go out of her way so as to feel important. A number of networks won't even consider her for a role given her antics. Supposedly once her film career went kaput she took State of Affairs as an attempt to get her career back on track, the pay check she accepted is supposed to be a fraction of what she once commanded.

The latest episode was pretty good, and the promo at the end makes me want to stick around for the rest of the season.

I have to admit I am really liking this even with my dislike for Heigl still there.

Heigl is the weakest actor on show but there is a very good story being told which makes up for that.

This show has really upped its game since it came back from the break. All of the Ar Rissalah stuff is great and very exciting. I can see something very bad happening in the White House in the season finale.

Yup it's really turning into a great show. I really wasn't expecting this at all! I literally can't wait for next week's episode!

Just found out the next episdoe is the last of the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Could be the last ever. There is a lot more story to tell, though. Hopefully it gets another run later this year.

Great finale with satisfying showdown and killer cliffhanger.

Fingers crossed for a second season.

Damm cliffhanger on a great show with bad ratings.

Hopefully they will get at least another 13 episode season to finish the story they are telling.
