Hi - I am looking to upgrade my PC but really do not know where to start...
I bough a XPS430 from Dell about 6 years ago, still runs pretty good, but would like to know where I should start on upgrading. its mainly used for gaming.

    XPS 430
    8GB DDR2 Ram
    Intel Core2 Quad Q8200 @2.33
    Win 7
    GPU AMD Radeon 5670 1GB
    2 x500GB Seagate HDD

from reading previous posts, I believe that an SSD is a must how will I know if they are compatible? I have about 700€ that I was going to spend on a new machine but If I could upgrade this one, even better...

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

A new PC is required, there aren't really any upgrade paths there as it's an old and very outdated platform. You could get a better graphics card and see a huge increase in some games, but in other titles, no matter what you do that old processor is a major bottleneck.

Best off selling it for about €250-300, and add that to your total budget which will build you a fantastic performance PC.

I can help you build one if you decide to go that route in the future, I will build it for free, just bring out the parts to me and yourself and I'll show you how to make one. It's for my own experience with building them. I suggest looking at amazon for the parts, you want me to link out some parts for a build for you on your budget? I like in Balbriggan if you are close to there?
