Hi, I really am not sure where this topic has its place but definitely infrastructure and networks covers it. to cut this down to a manageble rant, covering conspiracy theories in why we sold off our telephone network to why people live in the country. Well I live in the country and have been without a phone for 6 weeks, we have a fixed line because the mobile reception is best standing outside - usually in the rain - before getting cut off without warning.

Lightning struck the area, south east Wexford on the 8 Oct, it has been impossible to find out how many people are still without a line but I was wondering does anyone out there know how I could go about that without having to knock on doors. Vodafone our provider doesnt know when it will have us connected but does know when they will be dipping their grubby mitt into our bank account to take payment for this non-service.

Spoke to Comreg this morning, 10 days allowable for Vodafone to give me a response, I ask if they dont - then we will ask them again came response. Eh can you punish them says I ? , eh no we dont do that says they. Oh so thats what you do then, I ask? yes.....

Why did we sell eircom to a private company that has done zilch to maintain its network? - why do we have government agencies that have no teeth? Our local school is still without its phone - it aint with eircom either - I know someone who was 4 weeks without his line with vodafone - he was connected the day after he moved back to eircom. Curious dont you think???

My wife having emailed vodaphone and called them has been told they need to get a licence - a licence for what she asked? silence.....just like our phone really, said wife is pictured in the local newspaper about this - we have mobiles, we can drive to get stuff; what about older or disabled people who dont have a working telephone line? Who is looking out for them?

    need a coffee now.
thanks for reading - any advice greatly received

You'll need to create a new thread in that forum and may I suggest using a more descriptive title when you do.

The "licence" they refer to is a licence to break ground. Your local County Council are the holdup here.
