I work in Audit in Big Four (Dublin). Have received a role in the US (BigFour - Audit). I am considering the move. My main concern is the work-hours there? Should I expect to be working flat out 80 hour weeks? I tend to work 65-70 hrs here in audit - during the season?

Bit if a strange post there OP, the pertinent question is, do you want to move?

You probably need to think deep about this one. Personally I'd be investigating the tax structure in your new location (taxes vary incredibly from state to state in the US), plus I'd want to know what healthcare contributions would be made by my employer, cost of living, etc

You mention that you work for a Big 4. They should have a Global Employee Services department of some kind who can offer you advice on relocation.

I would suggest the question is: Do you want to live to work or work to live?

I work and have worked for 3 large US Multis.

This may just be a personal observation, but they do not put in the hours that we do.

If you are concerned about work/life balance be careful which state you select.

I would recommend the west coast or mid-west for a more laid back attitude to work and a greater respect for family/personal life. My recommendation would be either CA or CO.

Is it a temporary (secondment) or permanent position there?
