Apple TV for €79 in Harvey Norman

As per topic, Harvey Norman are selling the Apple TV for €79 or €20 less than rap... They had a good few of them in Naas this afternoon...

worth noting that it'll be the AppleTV 3 so can't be jailbroken (unless something has drastically changed in the last few months), so no XBMC or anything on it.

Like all apple products, it useless unless you can jailbreak it or willing to pay over the odds for content.

Far better going for a chromecast or Android TV box if it ever arrives in Ireland.

I don't know if it's been updated for iOS 8 yet, but Plex works fine with the ATV3. No jailbreak required.

Wow, I did NOT know that! Makes the box attractive then. I am no expert but I have read that the amazon Fire TV box (£79 and not deliverable to Ireland without parcel motel etc) can be jailbroken and have XBMC installed on it - it's specs look awesome (perhaps more in relation to the ATV2 which can be jailbroken too for XBMC).

Some people couldn't give a rats about Jailbreaking the unit.

ATV2 is 720p and ATV3(this one) is 1080p which was a deal breaker for me.

I sold my ATV2 for €150 and bought this for €79. Good deal for me.

Had an ATV2 and ended up selling it on too ... jailbreak is important to me but the ATV2 was just that bit too slow with XBMC. Have an intel NUC now and delighted with it but it cost way too much - happily I got a nice few quid toward it via the ATV2 sale. If the amazon TV thingy can do the business with XBMC then it would be a great box - it seems very powerful.

Worth noting as well that if you have an iPhone or iPad there is a Plex app you can buy and you can AirPlay your plex content to Atv3. Also anything you have n MP4 format can be accessed on the Apple TV.

If you are just looking for something for plex the NowTV box from Sky is by far the cheapest option.

ermm, you don't need to jailbreak the ATV3 to install plex.
