    Hi Folks.
I'm looking to buy a tablet for my 7 year old son for Christmas.
I was looking at the Tab 3 8" against the Tab 4 7".
price wise its 175 for the 8" and 199 for the 7".
    I'm lying towards the Tab 3 8".
    Any ideas people.

Hi. I have since found the nexus 7 2013 for 185 euro. Think this might be better.
    What do you all think?

Looking at them myself and inclined to go for the 8 inch. Lots of people tell me that inch makes a difference but then that is for my viewing. Thinking of going for the galaxy 8 inch , can get 8 gb for 99 with Pixamania and 16gb is 179 so trying to decide btwn the two.

Have a look at this: http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/lenovo-tab-s8-8-tablet-16-gb-black/324866/2.9

It works out at €162.59, with Lenovo's VAT-back offer. I have the Galaxy Tab 3 8", and I'd go for this Lenovo if I happened to need to replace it today.

Like the old lenovo laptops myself but when I enquired about lenovo tablets I got the impression that samsung 3 were a better seller and didn't have any problems. Curiously why would you change to lenovo ?

I wouldn't replace the Samsung at the moment, it does the job, but if it was smashed or stolen tomorrow, the Lenovo is what I'd buy. The Lenovo has a higher res screen, more RAM, better front and rear cameras, front facing speakers and a faster processor. The Samsung is unlikely to receive further os updates (although there is an unofficial version of cyanogenmod available, which I have flashed to mine).

Another alternative, if you can find one on sale: http://m.gsmarena.com/lg_g_pad_8_3-5673.php

I've since looked around more and I can get the nexus 7 2013 for 195. Think it was expediateelectronics.
This looks like a very good machine. 2gb ram. 16 gb HD.
