No DSL on my line

    Engineer came out to switch me to fibre. 3 hours later he said he can't do it. He put things back together and ran out the door. Never told me my old broadband was gone. He said there was no connections between the cabinets or something. Vodafone won't put me on to him. I have to put another order. I could be down for weeks. Who knows. Is it a big job to put things back the way they were.

    Lodge a complaint with vodafone as soon as possible. Look for billing costs to be reduced during the downtime. Get a reference number for the complaint you have lodged.     They gave me 40 euro credit to buy a dongle and credit. I don't know is credit any good to me because I wonder would I be better off switching to eircom and get them to do the order. Of course it had to happen on a Friday and I could do nothing.

    Would not have been this installer, if he couldn't connect to the fibre as it was going to a different cab, he would not have changed anything. It would be another tech tasked with the other part of the order for fibre, the unjumpering of the ADSL in the exchange.

    The installer did a lot of work. He said he did anyway. He was around for 3 hours. The way he took off like a bullet afterwards made me think he ****ed up. I just want an answer from someone in vodafone if it's a big fix or a simple one.

    He should have reverted it before leaving and prevented his colleague doing the dejumpering.

    If they can get the installers(a better one) back it may not take them too long to fix assuming theres no severe cabling issues that'll require a new drop etc.

    When i remove the socket on the wall there are no wires connected. Are the blue and the white and blue the dsl lines. Do they go the L1 and L2 or will i just leave things be.

    Take pictures, call vodafone and find out who to email them to. Thats shocking workmanship and needs to be passed back up the chain to eircom Wholesale.

    The pair your line is on needs to connect to L1 L2 terminals on the rear of the NTU (master socket). Make sure you use the terminals on the rear portion, not the pins on the customer panel(front bit).

    We didn't know what we know now but I was thinking of this bit from the OP, "Never told me my old broadband was gone". And I was thinking something similar as ED E, its up to the guy in the house to leave things the way they are or get it working.

    Agreed, very shoddy, whatever about DSL he didn't even connect the NTU to get dial tone, ridiculous.

    Was on the phone to them. They had not even a fault logged. sweet Jesus i feel like killing someone.Then they wonder why you get worked up on the phone.
