Remember What The Dormouse Said

Whilst at a bit of a loose end here and listening to a few tunes, I was shocked to learn that 'White Rabbit' by Jefferson Airplane is actually an anti-war song (Vietnam) and not about pyschedelic drugs as I had always suspected.

Any song that you happily sing along to without realising it had a totally different meaning to what you assumed? And did it affect your enjoyment thereafter?

Apparently that's a reference to you becoming bigger (after taking one pill) by protesting the war as opposed to becoming smaller and being a insignificant number in the army (taking the other pill).

    Clever stuff.

Your parents can't make any choices for you, you have to make your own.

Could be the fact that the Tea Party itself and the participants the March Hare, Mad Hatter and Dormouse are well aware of what is actually happening around them and what day it is as it is their unbirthday and they just don't give a flying fcuk or the fact that they are totally tripping balls on their "tea".

Where did you read this? I thought the lead singer had said it was about drugs.

Grace Slick is a flake, I wouldn't take anything she says seriously - even a song she wrote.

Turns out she wasn't singing about the Virgin Mary after all, but then I had no clue what a virgin was at the time either. I just knew my older sister singing it 24/7 drove my parents nuts! :D

So she wrote a song and doesn't know about all the deep symbolism in it? ;P

I was shocked to discover that Grace Slick has also never been involved in urban planning, despite this detailed and mesmerising memoir:

Can't bloody find where I read it now, maybe I dreamt it! Maybe Grace doesn't remember writing it either.

Still, gotta admit it makes sense when you think about.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

I thought it was about a girl called Lucy who was in the sky with diamonds.

Closing Time by Semisonic is about being born. I also always thought Betterman by Pearl Jam was about a woman settling for the man she had so she wouldn't be alone. Might have been some projection on that one. :o

Always liked the Theme from MASH but I was a bit taken aback when I heard the lyrics 'Suicide is painless...'

And scarily enough that's the same band (kinda) that was in the original post.

It is. Lennon picked up his kid from school. His kid had a drawing he'd maid in class. When Lennon asked what it was Julian said it was Lucy in the sky with diamonds.

Song about visiting an art gallery?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.
