19 year old looking to invest. Help needed

Hi guys, so over the past number of years I've taken a keen interest in the stock market etc. My current situation is; I'm a second year student in University (5 year degree) with a job. I have a small sum of money which I have saved to invest.I want to invest now and continue adding more money every year. I see it as a medium to long term plan (5-10 years)
What I need help with is:
What financial institutions should I go to, to help me?
I was thinking of going towards Oil/Gold? Or also into tech(graphene).

I understand the risks but id rather see my money doing work for me rather than sitting in a bank account. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
