Anyone know if this is going to cause problems ? I'm hand luggage only and bought a fancy candle for the other half, but wondering if I'll have a prob bringing it as hand luggage. It's wax, not gel

Nah, you'll be fine, they will just melt it down to see there is nothing hidden in it.

I can't see a reason why it would be a problem. Why do you think it might be?

Wasn't sure if it would fall under liquids & gels as some may class it as a solidified liquid. Maybe I'm being too wary but was curious.

Ok, I see where you're coming from but I sincerely doubt there will be a problem. Many solids (think about plastic) turn to liquid when heated but your candle is most definitely a solid as is. Many people bring souvenir candles back from places they visit, don't worry about it! If you really want to be sure, give the airline's customer service a call or email and ask.

Up until recently I was commuting to the UK a lot and brought over candles several times for the digs I stayed in over there. Never had a problem :)

I can tell you with absolute certainty that candles are no problem. What will quite likely happen is that airport security staff will want to have a quick look to visually confirm that it's indeed a candle and that'll be that.
