Izuzu trooper for farm use

I'm looking at getting a 4x4 for farm use (I have a car too for when not hauling). I'd like something with at least a 3.0L engine, have had under-powered 4x4s in the past and don't want to go back there.. It seems that there are Izuzu Trooper 7 seaters with a 3.0L engine to be got for reasonable money. I'm thinking of buying one and converting it to commercial use by ripping out the rear 2 seats etc, and leaving the middle row. I definitely want the middle row for when I'm going to the out farm with help herding etc. Any idea if this can be done with this model, i.e. models around 2003-2005, and cost of this?

And if it can be done, is this the right jeep to go for? Ideally I'd like a Discovery or Landcruiser but they are much more pricey. Saying that I don't want to buy cheap and end up spending a fortune on repairs that someone could have told me are all but inevitable for the model.

Unless you have the following, tech 2 diagnostics, experience in 3.0 engines, patients of a saint, one disappointment of breakdown after another, a fat wallet or a healthy credit card i would strongly advise you to stay away from them.
Excellent jeep when running, massive power over the 3.1 but worse than a steam engine for developing its moods.
A converted one is an option but you may have a 2003-2005 jeep with a 93 engine with unknown milage and unknown molestation.

    Isuzu are japanese too...

As said, 3.1 is the only way to go on a trooper,

Many mechanics will tell you, the 3.0 doesn't even resemble an engine, let alone work like one. (never owned one but saw a lot of em breaking a lot of lads hearts)

Biggest problem is they don't understand the 3.0l engine, isuzu went from the 3.1 where one wire to the pump to run them to the 3.0l where it needed sensors - air, oil, water and ecu to run it.

Ah to be fair, that's not the reason people dont want them.

Looks like it will be hard to get one that I can have confidence in, as in that has been looked after. I certainly don't want a machine giving me hassle all the time. I could take a punt but now I'm thinking no, I've read a few threads about the 3.0, never good!

If you want an Isuzu with a 3.0 litre engine, get the Dmax. It's a different engine than the Trooper

And as reliable as the 3.1 ever was.

I dunno. People slate the 3.0, possibly fairly, but having seen a few lads around here get big mileages out of them, I'm not so sure. A mechanic mate of mine runs a 3.0 and says he wouldn't touch a 3.1. A turbo for a 3.0 is much cheaper to replace, they need servicing alright, but if done, they run well. So, pros and cons.

Bear in mind the old Isuzu scam - they gave a 3 year warranty on the engine(3.0) so a LOT of lads ran them on kersosene during the warranty period until the pumps developed faults, then piled them back into Isuzu, under warranty..whereby they got new engines fitted for free....this was rather widespread.....

We have a 1995 Isuzu Trooper on a part time farm. The 3.1L engine is fine. Not much trouble with it apart from the four-wheel drive.

Are you referring to the 3.0l trooper or dmax?

I never heard of them with pump trouble, just injector and injector sleeves. That was a recall on them. I know some had turbo failure too.
Would that engine hack 3 years burning kerosene, it would burn a hell of a lot hotter than diesel, often ran old yolks on kero when we used go off roading on sundays.
