    Hi Guys
anyone have any recommendations for someone to fix this for me?
Think it is beyond a chiropodist as I probably will need both side of the nail removed if not the whole thing.
I see VHI Swiftcare offer this service or do i go to a normal gp?
    Thanks in advance

I'd check out what they ooffer in the VHI clinic. I would recommend against full removal unless they are going to 'kill' the nailbed at either side. Otherwise there's a chance it will grow back the same.

Had my nail done....Jesus, it's over 20 years ago now...I guess things have moved on that they offer it in clinics now.

Cheers Alf, I reckon if I go to a GP he will just send me to the hospital. Will send an email to swiftcare and see how I go

Yeah, call them or email them and see what they say.

The GP will just send you to get it done in hospital.

As an aside, I was about 10 when I got it done and they gave me a Walkman to listen to during the procedure. Gerry Ryan was on the radio (marvellous) and he was talking to people who had lost limbs in accidents...

Ask them what the removal entails. Ideally, they'd be trimming a sliver off each side and making sure the nail doesn't grow back at the sides. The toe closes in around it and you don't have future problems with ingrown toenails. At least I haven't in the last 22-24 years (jesus, typing it makes me feel old).

That said, at that price you can take a punt that it doesn't grow back in such a way that you have the same problem within a year.

The Gp did mine a few years back, eneded up 6 months later in hospital getting it removed, 2 days on crutches and was back walking normal, and nail grew back perfect thankfully..

You'll be grand. After a couple of days, I wrapped a load of bandages around it. put on one of my Da's runners and went down the road playing football with the mates :)
