eFlow woes..it wasn't me!!

So I received a first penalty notice from eFlow yesterday. Apparently my car was recorded using the m50 south bound last Friday morning. I can 100% prove that I was in work in Cork and my car was in the car park (also in Cork).

So I rang eFlow, the lady on the phone was nice but insisted she couldn't do anything else because the pictures show my reg. She said from the photograph the car was a Mazda (which my car is). She said she will also send out the pictures if I want.

Next she told me there were previous dates where my car was snapped going through the m50 barrier free points, April, June, and 3 trips in November...all of them have been paid bar the one for last Friday!
At this point the theme music from Close Encounters began to play in my head:confused:

She then proceeded to tell me that the onus is on me to go to the Gardai and report an issue about cloned reg plates and basically the money is still outstanding on my car. Clearly I was seeing red mist at this point:mad:

So I spoke to her supervisor, and wow, within 2 minutes she was able to tell me the car was a Silver Lexus..and she quashed the fine. But I am still bamboozled about the whole saga. She did tell me for peace of mind I should still get in touch with the Gardai and report possible cloned reg plates.

Has anyone else had this experience with eFlow? I know when the barrier free tolling came out there was a plethora of reg mistakes etc with the general public but I assumed this was all pretty much sorted.

Has anyone else had similar experiences recently?

Your reg might be one digit out to the lexus and a screw head on the number plate is changing that digit if the cap fell of it.

Get a photo from them anyway to check. Would be weird for a car with cloned plates to be paying themselves?

exactly, I presume it was something like you described. I wonder will they send me the pics now since the penalty has been dropped. Hate ringing them and going over it all again.

I feel sorry for the people on the phones, they must deal with a lot of crap just because the system is faulty or not 100% accurate.

Happened to me but did not get a fine because I had an account.

When I rang, there was no difficulty, they looked at the photos and said they would be putting my reg onto a manual check in future because of the similarity the system saw with the plate of the other car.
