    http://www.dublinairport.com/gns/at-the-airport/latest-news/14-11-10/Passenger_Numbers_Up_10_In_October.aspx
Almost 2 million passengers used Dublin Airport in October, which was a 10% increase on the same month last year. Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe increased by 7% during the month, as almost 1 million passengers travelled to European destinations in October.Just over 700,000 passengers travelled to UK destinations during October, a 9% increase compared to October last year. Transatlantic traffic to North America increased by 24% with just under 200,000 passengers travelling on this route sector last month. Traffic to other international destinations in the Middle East and North Africa, increased by 31% to just over 57,000.Passenger numbers on domestic routes declined by 2% with almost 6,400 people travelling on domestic flights last month.Almost 18.6 million passengers have used Dublin Airport in the first 10 months of this year, which is a 7% increase on the same period in 2013.

I reckon 2016 will be the year the 25,000,000 is surpassed...

Great news! Not just for the airport but for the country as a whole! Hopefully this momentum will keep up and the new routes will keep coming!

At the current rate, what would be the projected number of passengers travelling through Dublin Airport at the end of the year?

Well the total in 2013 was 20.2m.

At a 7% growth, that should be 21.7m in 2014.

If it continued at that rate, it would 2017 before the magic 25m number were reached.

It should hopefully help put Metro North back on the agenda next year.

passenger numbers up 12% in November...

    http://www.dublinairport.com/gns/at-the-airport/latest-news/14-12-09/Almost_1_6_Million_Passengers_In_November_At_Dublin_Airport.aspx

Almost 1.6 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in November, a 12% increase on the same month last year. Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe grew by 14% with almost 706,000 people travelling to European destinations during the month. UK traffic recorded an 8% increase with just under 678,000 passengers travelling to and from Britain in November. That's some serious growth we're seeing now! Perhaps we might see 22m for all of 2014 if traffic is doing really well this month and we have very little delays and nice weather.

Maybe I might be thinking it wrong but is it possible that we can see 2m pax using Dublin in December with Christmas and New Year's Eve flights?

If 1.6 million used it in November, I cant see how it could be under 2,000,000 in December... Its a long month also.

There were 1.4m passengers in December last year.

It would need to be a 42% increase to achieve 2m pax.

They should easily hit 1.6 million. Plus there's how many extra seats going in and out this year compared to last?

Anyone else finding security slower at various times of the day with this growth?

15 minutes to get through T1 security at lunchtime last Saturday. Only half of the benches open. 15 minutes isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things but it certainly wasn't this busy last year.

in light of the X350WB, is there a need to lengthen Dublins runway? Aer lingus is buying a few and any other the other operators that would likely launch medium - long haul from Dublin likewise. We wouldnt have the demand for an A380 or 747 etc here in the short - medium term IMO and there are even question marks over the A380 future at this stage. I only mention the X350Wb as I believe our current runway is long enough for it even at MTOW...

It's the A350-900, the XWB is just a marketing thing ;).

It never hurts to have a longer runway available, the lengthened 28 won't happen before the parallel is built.

Is there a passenger number that when reached will trigger the plan for the parallel runway?

Dublin does need a longer runway regardless of the A350 IMO. With demand increasing, new and longer routes. The 777-300ER needs over 3,000 metres of runway at MTOW, the 737ERs need quite a bit of runway too. Say a direct flight to Asia?

Wall street journal are calling the A380 a flop. It's not what airlines want to buy.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_737_Next_Generation

based on the above, Dublin airport can take a 737 800 at mtow on the current runway...

That's American news... 160 made isn't a bad number, and I'm sure we'll see more built. Yes, the A380 isn't the most successful, but is certainly quite iconic in terms of it being the first completely double decker plane.

Yes, easily so, but I'm referring to the 739ER, which Norwegian Long Haul said they'd like to fly to Dublin with.

Norwegian don't have any 739ER's currently or on order, they do have MAX 8's on order which should make North America comfortably from the current runway.

Oh, my mistake. I thought they mentioned -900ERs.
