    Hey lads.

My current contract is almost up and I'm thinking of moving from it to a sim-only option with 3 (€20.33 per month flex max classic) but I'm kinda stumped about what to do phone wise. My curent phone is a HTC One S, and it's grand but I'm kind of over the crap battery life and sense UI.

Anyone have recommendations of what mid-price phone's I should consider? Have about €250ish (little leeway there) to spend and not sure what devices are the best value for money in the price range.

Was looking at the Moto-G as a potential choice but not too sure how it fares battery wise (conflicting reports).

So yeah, android phone, no contract and €250-ish, what's the best value?

Moto G 2 is a one day battery. Mine is normally about 10-20% at the end of the day. I would say I'm a middle to heavy user. No complaint about the phone though. It performs great and is a true bargain at the price.

Moto G will be getting Android 5.0 in the next few weeks, which includes Google's Project Volta.

This is rumored to add 20-30% extra battery life compared to Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

    Interesting.
Does that include the 1st gen 4g version or just the 2nd gen GSM only version?

The idea of (close to) stock Android and 5.0 upgrade is intriguing, especially at the price point.

This page suggests 1st and 2nd gen Moto G and Moto X.

In my opinion, the Moto G is a budget end phone.
The Moto X is a mid-range phone (and I love it)
Motorola don't make a high-end phone at the minute.

Motorola apps are listed in the Play Store so are updated regularly - they are not baked into the OS, so you don't have to wait ages for updates like you would would Samsung Touchwiz or HTC Sense.

As regards future updates across all androids, expect most upps to be put in the Play store rather than baked into the OS:
