    Hi there
We've just recently moved into a house during the summer and as it's starting to get colder we've noticed there is no oil or gas heating system
And our landlord said the fire heats the back boiler
We've an electric shower so we never bothered using it till no

I've put on the immersion for a few hours without a fire and it took hours to heat he house
I've also felt the water tank and it was barely Luke warm after 3 hours of a roaring fire
We have these electric heaters but I'm sure they are costing us a bomb,
When we light the fire it barely heats the room, never mind the rest of the house
It's an old cottage so I'm understanding that it's hard to heat, and no double glazing
But is there anything else we can do to heat the place?

I'm so used to just turning on the oil heating and hey presto the house is warm

I dont think you can do much more than your doing.unless you can persuade the landlord to install an oil boiler.

"I've put on the immersion for a few hours without a fire and it took hours to heat he house" Your immersion would never be able or used to heat your house. You must be confusing that with turning on oil and having hot water. Your post makes little sense. If you want to know the costs of your electric heater, just use the Electric Ireland appliance calculator. Online or app.
