When then Great Big Bertha came out it was £500 nearly 20 years ago, the Biggest Big Bertha a while later was £600, they weren't unpopular, and it wasn't just good players.

Some people still spend quite a bit on drivers, if you wanted you could easily spend €800 or more on a tour issue driver!!

Wasn't there a Callaway Driver that Monty used (might have subsequently have been made illegal, though not sure) that was impossible to hit. I remember bringing a friend and his friend out to play. We got 1/2 hour of how great this was and how far it went. Turns out the only person on the planet who could hit it was Monty.

    ERC Fusion maybe?

    ERC Fusion maybe?

ERC II, that's the one. Had a sweet spot that was deemed to exceed the trampolining effect. Rather lie the G spot, the average player knew it was there somewhere but could never find it.

The friend of a friend missed 7 fairways on the front 9 and lost most of those. Stood up on the 10th tee and hit a iron and that was the last we saw of the ERC II.
By the way did I mention it cost a fortune.
I promise that I didn't inwardly laugh all the way round the back nine.
