my order or merit is 8 now and they say there are no outstanding requests for this competition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,242 ✭✭✭Daith

Then there are no outstanding requests and unfortunately you would just need to wait until there are for this panel

It's December - most employing Departments/organisations will have completely depleted their staffing budgets for the year. Things will start to move again in January and you won't have to wait too long, I would imagine.

Many thanks for your email.  There is no guarantee that we will receive further requests for this competition, but ICT Competitions normally move quickly.  No, your name will remain on the Order of Merit until we reach you, or the panel expires, whichever comes first

does anyone think that we would receive offer letters based on this conversation. this was the reply i got from assignment team

Dude… look at your posts. And read theirs. No, they absolutely can't guarantee you that you will get called. But having said that - you were 20th in OOM in the first week of November. 16th by 28th November. 8th by 3rd December.

Going by that, chances are very good that you will be called in January (and employers have their full A1 budget available again for 2025).

Hi All , do anyone know if the salary is negotiable once you receive the offer ?

And if the salary that will be offered should be the first salary on the scale or it depends on the experience ? as the first scale is 36500 i think it's a little bit low.

    Thanks.

In general, every new entrant to the Civil Service will start at the first point on the scale

Unless you're an existing Civil or Public servant and generally need to be on the right grade.

You can certainly ask them, but just don't be surprised when they say No

The salary isn't negotiable. You start at the first point on the scale, currently €36,544. Yes, that's low compared to the private sector, but consider also: 23 days annual leave, annual increment, flexitime (meaning you can get up to an additional 18 days leave per year if you put in the hours), and in the vast majority of cases, you'll have blended working. You will also get access to the Refund of Fees scheme (college courses paid for), Bike to Work scheme, Travel Pass scheme, access to internal promotion competitions, etc.

And after probation, your job is permanent and pensionable, and won't be offshored to India because your employer's shareholders want an extra $0.04 per share

I’m number 17 on a panel for the role of ICT specialist with AGS in Dublin (EO level), just wondering if this is good and how long should I be expecting to wait?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1 samindublin

Hey AGS(meaning Gardai?) I am 30 on the panel and wondering same? This is my first time on panel and have been jobless for quite long time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 83 ✭✭Goggleyed_gimp

yea Gardai. From looking at previous posts here, the vast majority of panels are exhausted, not sure if this is the case for non general competitions such as AGS though 🤔

Finally got offered a place after a year and a few weeks of waiting. Applied in January 2024, interview March 2024, received panel position in the 60s in April 2024, finally got the email now end of January 2025. A long ride for sure :)

I've been placed with the Department of Education for the Networking and Cybersecurity stream.

Can anyone share what to expect? I obviously already reached out with my questions to PAS, but does this department do WFH for example? I'm based in the midlands and would hate to turn it down after waiting so long if there's no blended working.. It would be incredibly difficult to get to Dublin city center 5 days a week.

If I do indeed have to turn it down, would I be off the panel and that's me done with this competition?

Oh, by the way, I did see the surveys held by Tauren, so it seemed like D/Education does 3 days from home, but I also seen answers from 2022 implying no if I interpreted correctly. Probably the 2023 survey (saying 3 days) should be more accurate, and also it depends on your unit and line manager as I understand. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Yeah it really depends. 3 remote and 2 in seems fairly normal, but I've also seen people on probation doing full in office for a period of time.

    Hopefully you'll get something suitable!

if the salary is increasing according to market standards for example there is hike again in march will that be applicable for those who join in april

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45 vinaya

i mean right now the salary is 36544 if there is a hike will that be applicable to us or after probation

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 333 ✭✭rostalof

All civil service scales increase in March 2025 by 2% and August 2025 by 1%. That's for all officers whether you are on probation or not.

  • Registered Users Posts: 83 ✭✭Goggleyed_gimp

Do you know if that counts for public service too?

Hi, would anyone be able to tell me when the last competition for ICT Software Developers ran? And if you know when that panel is approximately supposed to end?

Hoping to apply for it when the competition comes next so trying to figure out if it will come this year or not. Apologies if the info was available here, I tried searching in the last few pages (and on Google) but could not find it. Also if anyone has the booklet for the previous competition (Software Dev stream) I'd be grateful! Thanks.
