hi guys im new to this forum and ive been reading alot here.
lately started reading posts about vodafoen broadband here

and especially want to ask about this one
    vodafone.ie/home-phone-broadband/simply-broadband

how is it ? i live in wexford town and i have eircom atm 20mb ..i am getting the 20mb but upload is so low . its only 0.5mb and they kept telling it cant be increased(i checked the line speed on the modem panel they only give me that 0.5 and say it cant be increased)

im considering this vodafone if it could deliver the 20mb or more hopefully and better uploads and low pings lower than 30 perhaps .

Vodafone use eircom's lines. You won't see any speed improvement, unless eFibre is available in the area.

Be warned of Vodafone's fair usage policy of 300GB a month, they'll charge extra for going over it.

yes i knew that voda uses eircom lines .. isnt fibre available in wexford town middle of the town ?

yeah i know about the 300gb but it states that they will only contact you if you go over 300gb to check if there is a virus or something lol... and does not say word about paying extra?

#cant edit the post for some reason.

    i just checked fibre coverage
    eircom.net/efibreinfo/map

and it says at my address that it is available but not yet enabled. so what the heck ? i have to ask them to enable it for me ?

Select "check availability" and put your telephone number in: https://www.eircom.net/broadband/productDetails?id=1

It's a lie. They'll advertise their product as unlimited but in their terms and conditions, they state they charge for exceeding their cap. There's a thread where people on here are complaining about on it.

I'm with Vodafone and had I know they were so sly and greedy, I would have went with eircom instead.

my eircom phone number starts with 8883 ... so which should i choose idk bcz its not there :) but i checked the map with my address and thats what it said , it is available but not yet enabled. ? :)

ow thnx about the cap warning then , maybe it would be enough 300gb a month ... with eircom as i do not care (20mb speed) i sometimes hit 400-500 but with the vodafone i would watch it i guess... ild have to write a mini proggy displaying my total usage every month.. but no biggie that way

    hello all

I got my bill today from Vodafone and got a shock. im supposed to be unlimited and ive been charged 30 euro extra for my usage. im an ex utv customer and was told when I was forced to change that my terms and conditions would carry over on 5 different occasions. this ive learned today is not the case. is there an official Vodafone thread I can post this too or am I wasting my time. I was with utv 10 years never bar 1 time had a problem with them and now this ****e I was warned to stay away from these cowboys but was willing to give them a go well I guess I should have listened. any advice would be gratefully accepted. Oh by the way 3 Vodafone mobile phone users in the house changing over to someone else because of this.

Hi mate my bill including phone was supposed to be 40 euros I used to pay 43 with utv so I thought I was getting a bargain. I have 3 kids at home so between gaming and netflix usage is about 300-400gb per month depending. I'm not a serial downloader of movies nither are my kids so I though this was an average usage for my family size. Anyway it's 70 euros this month I know it's not huge by any stretch but it's the principal of it. I don't abuse downloading. It's just ordinary usage. And on a tight household budget it's not good at all.

your saying thats not huge 70euro ... that is trully overpriced man ! 50 is the max you should pay ... but that is a good going at 300-400gb for whole family.

i know that ireland has very expensive internet and it sucks ... all the rest of europe has 100mb internets no problem and they pay even less than 40 euro :D i know some people living in denmark, latvia, norway, poland, lithuania all countries nearly 1 person from each ... and they do not pay more than 40 euro for 100mb.. 100MB! :D

thats why i wanted this eircom because i thought why pay for eircom 20mb 40euro when i can pay the same for this vodafone and get 50mb if lucky...but seeing you with such problems i will not go there anymore. thanks for the heads up dude !

I just checked to see if 25 Melrose Court could get eFibre and it's not available in that location, but going by the NGA FIBRE BROADBAND NETWORK, eFibre is being rolled out in the town. You're not going to see better speeds with Vodafone, sky or any other company until eFibre is rolled out in your location.

I also checked to see if UPC was available at 25 Melrose and they aren't.

I think they charge €10 for every 100GB you exceed over the limit and the won't warn you about going over their cap either. Avoid them.
