    Hi

Looking for some information, friend of mine recently went to Pieta House for some help as she was in quite a low place. She found it good while attending but not the free sessions are finished and she can't afford to pay for counseling.
Anybody know of any other free services available? She seems to be slipping back into her old ways and thinks there is no where else that would offer any help without money.. Thanks in advance

    Hi OP,

as you may be aware, boards.ie has a relationship with www.turn2me.org, and have a registered representative contactable at turn2me.org to help posters in distress. If you feel that your frind could avail of their services, you may want to take a look at the following post from Eoin, turn2me's registered representative here.
    Hello Boards Members,

My name is Eoin O'Shea and I am a counselling psychologist working at Turn2me, an online mental health organisation (www.turn2me.org)

I write to announce that Turn2me, having received additional support from the Health Service Executive through the National Office for Suicide Prevention, would be willing to offer support for any (adult - 18 or over) Boards members wishing to avail of our services online and free of charge. Such services are for those experiencing distress, a difficult time in life, or any of a number of psychological/emotional difficulties.

We can provide anonymous support at Turn2me should you wish to avail of our support forums, take part in our Online Support Groups which run every day, or use any of the other features at our site.

We can also offer you free online counselling - up to eight sessions - with a professional counsellor. All you would need to do is visit https://www.turn2me.org/engage/ and a member of our staff can take things from there. (Please note that the free online counselling option is currently aimed at Irish residents).

Please contact us as per the url above if you'd have an interest in the free online counselling. Alternatively, feel free to simply visit our site and check things out in your own time.

I wish you the very best and hope to hear from you soon,

    Eoin

I'm of the (very??) old school here.

Has your friend religious beliefs? Could s/he talk to a priest/rector/clergyman of a similar faith?

IADT and IICP in Killinarden offer free services, or very very cheap, give them a ring :)

Once again thanks for your reply, however my friend is not religious so would be very unlikely to see a priest.

    Hello,

Would see consider asking Pieta house to give a referral. I have volunteered with them and they know good people.

I am with a guy a the moment but it's quite pricey he is Dr so although he is great I realize she needs something free.

If it is a free service she is looking for try these two...HSE National Counselling Service Dublin South contact adminavoca@hse.ie or The Dublin Counselling and Therapy Centre in 41 Upper Gardiner St contact info@dctc.ie http://www.dctc.ie/about-dctc.php

There is http://www.reducedcostcounselling.com/ it's 25 euro per session which is amazing. You can end up paying anything up to 200 euro with a psychiatrist.

Northside counselling 018484789. They take anything from 2 euro per hr they do have a waiting list sometimes. But I have heard people get an appointment after 2 weeks.

Good luck to your friendxx She is lucky to have a friend like youxx

Primary care psychologists provide counselling and psychotherapy free of charge on the HSE, but she needs to be referred by her GP. Ditto for the Mental Health Services.
