Hi everyone looking for a bit of help please.
I have a Volvo which i have been rightly stitched up with. The fuel Somehow leaked into the engines sump and caused the car to rev to maximum on its own . There was black clouds of smoke so thick you couldn't see twenty feet away. Okay, so we managed to stall it out without the engine seizing. And return it home . I stripped the inlet manifold and erg valve lifted the injectors, and removed every trace of oil i could find.
Im not a mechanic. But have to do most things on my own due to money.
In the sump i found basically what looked like Glitter. . shards of steel 2-3mm but thin wafer-like.
cleaned that all out. Flushed the engine, cleaned that out.
Reason i was just cleaning was to clean out the contaminated oil and any debris and see if it would start.
so next i bleed the fuel system, ok no air left
And low and behold she starts up, vibrating and shaking as though shes going to cut out. There's White smoke out of the back but she starts to settle down i think.
When i rev her after ten or 12mins of warming her up, its as rattly as a bag of spanners, and the smoke "White" hasn't gone.
It hasn't lost any water at all.
Next bit, Here comes the fecking neighbour .
"Oh thats lumpy" Says he and "its only firing on two or three cylinders" . And proceeds to pull of the lead to No.4 injector. And she dies. And no matter what i do now she won't start.
Now im stuck with this piece of crap, its up on adverts and trying to swap it.
The long suffering Mrs needs a good car we have a daughter with special needs.
But help a lad please before xmas . What do i do here . What happened. Im no mechanic but i'll have a bloody good go at most things.
    HELP PLEASE.
    Markus.

Needs to be hooked up to diagnostics as newer cars tend to not like the leads been pulled or coils depending on car and can cause it to fault on ecu.

Sounds like a major engine malfunction and new rings and could even be shaft or pistons gone.

Shreds of metal not a good sign and plenty of smoke most likely burning oil.

Do you know a good indy mechanic?
May be a new engine needed.

The shards all seemed to be thin tiny 2-3mm. Some looked coppery.
Checked out a secondhand engine. 850 sterling.
Bare engine. Then theres the bits and bobs, .
Is it worth repairing . ?

All depends what car worth to you and can you get same or better for the money you have to spend.

Was correct oil and intervals of servicing kept up on car?

    What mileage is on car.

Sounds like it could have ran the big end bearings...
Your best bet is to get it checked over by a good mechanic and if there is damage done then your better off picking up and good s/h engine.

These engines are also used in the 2.0 peugoet 407's and C5's Hdi's and they dont normally give much trouble and are well able for big mileage.

If the sump of the old engine was filled up with diesel then you need to get the dpf system checked out or else your new engine will do they same.

I had the car two months. I changed oil and diesel filters soon as i got it all correct oil.
    I was feckin conned
Cars worth what it is. A car with no engine. If i got offered a 00 with NCT id probably take it at this stage

The sump did fill when i took it out there was 7ltrs in the sump. That was in the space of 3months probably no more than 9 or 10 weeks.
I see the crank and pistons can be dropped from underneath.
Can the shell bearings just be replaced like for like or would i need a regrind. The engine revved on its own no more than 15-20 seconds.
I took of the Dpf filter . Its just a shell . "Empty".
That was after filling the Eolys fluid tank 100euros.

If you are up for challenge of replacing yourself fair play.

Defo get indy to check and prob best get new engine well second hand.

It is sh1t when trhat crap happens.
Quite possible previous owner knew what was coming and got rid or just never serviced it.

Oh im up for a challenge . Just info im short of.
I think i will drop the crank out and check it out. Cant cost much surely to have it looked at .
Just need the workshop manual. With every torque setting know to man . Lol.
If i get an offer on it . Ok
But its time to stop worrying and rip up the bed sheets for new rags.
How hard can it be . Its a big jigsaw

Looks like the previous owner "bet" out the old dpf and didnt remap it...

Its up to you but if there is damage then i would fit another engine and get the car up and running again....You can strip down your old engine when its out and even sell it off in parts to get some money back on the engine you buy..;)

If your up for the challenge and you want info on stripping down this engine then pm me your email address and i can send you some info taken from the peugeot service manuals.
