l already own 42LW550T LED TV and an XBox360 (not that l use it a lot) but between the both of them the LG apps and some of the TV apps on the xbox

l am wondering if a Humax 1000s / 1010s is a bit of an overkill.

l realise its a nice machine but and has a lot of features like the players etc but at €300 theres less expensive ones...like to have a good receiver and the PVR appeals...l hear it's as near to sky+ feeling without having it if that's a good thing.

The Manhattan Plaza HDR-S with 500GB HDD is a cheaper alternative, also with a good reputation - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manhattan-Plaza-HDR-S-Receiver-500GB/dp/B00JHAJNYI/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1415479114&sr=1-2&keywords=Manhattan

i bought a hdr 1010s last june, i never had sky so it was my first pvr....................ten out of ten.

however being based in cork.........the extra for the wifi is something i could live with out, so if i was going to buy aagain the hdr 1010s 1tb at £199.95 in richersounds would be my choice, plus if you sign up as a vip member u get a tenner off so £189.95 is hard to beat less than i years sub with basic sky.

    i hope this helps

Actually just signed up as there was a pop up on their page when l was looking last night bought an LG LED TV a few years back and saved a good bit on purchasing here in Galway.

Might be worth a look alright. However l think the newer model HDR1010s was collect at store last night ...l could enquire tho.

Just read through the reviews there, and in one of them a Manhattan rep replies to a review and gives some screenshots of the unit, looks very good, especially the epg.

The Manhattan HDR-S has a gold award from What's Satellite and TV on their own website so it must be reliable enough although searching around l've seen comments about the system crashing or hanging but maybe there's always a few or it could be setup issues.

Let us know how you get on, and which unit you opt for.
