UPC Modem (Cisco)

I seem to be having issues with UPC's wireless modem. I used to have a wireless Netgear router connected into the modem and I was getting great download speeds.

However since I have disconnected the router they are really bad with just using the Cisco modem on its own. The reason I disconnected the Netgear router was because I thought I would get higher download speeds.

However when I plug it back in the downloads shoot straight up again. Another issue I have with this, I get great download speeds from torrents etc but when browsing on the web, the sites take ages to load or else they do not load at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks

    Sounds like a wifi issue.
The netgear would probably be wireless G and wouldn't support higher speeds but probably has better wifi than the cisco
