sick calf

    Have a calf thats been off for a few days and gave tonic with no improvement.,this morn calf is staggering and can't get up when it falls,was up sucking mother last night,no scour???will get vet today

    No scour but is it passing anything??

    Maybe check it's temperature.
    I'd e getting it in a corner under a heat lamp to conserve energy until te vet comes.

    And give it 2l electrolytes, can only be good for the calf.

    Silly question but is the cow letting any milk down??

    Yeah the calf is passing dung,Yeah I'll give lectade now till vet comes,I actually stripped out the four quarters last night and she milking freely in all of them

    did the calf get enough bietings when born? vet is best call

    Had similar a few weeks back. Calf had pneuomia. No visable sign apart from the staggering initially, brought her in, high temp and a cold nose.

    Best advice though is get the vet to look at him.

    Calf back to normal again.

    Had vet out and he says brain abscess,injected into vein and said to give shot for four or five days so we,all see how she goes
