    Hi,

I have a free to air box in the attic room and also have it connected to one of the spare bedrooms, is it possible to get a magic eye like I have for my sky so I dont have to go all the way to the attic to change the free to air channel.

    Thanks

What's the make & model of the box? How is it connected to the spare bedroom? (AV cable, RF over coax, wireless sender.)

    Hi Thurston,

It is a SKYDIGIBOX. Pace DV3...
It is connected by an RF Output 1 Cable.

    Thanks

Ah, just another Sky box: fitting a 'magic eye' will be no problem then.

The output cable will have to be connected to RF2, rather than RF1, as only RF2 is capable of supplying power to the 'eye'.

If the eye fails to power up, you will have to go into the hidden service menu & check that RF power is switched on. With this box, the menu is accessed by pressing services, 401, select on the remote (quickly, ignoring what's onscreen).

See here. (Section 4 deals with RF outlets.)

    Oh thanks Thurston.

So even tho its a free to air box I can still use a magic eye. I will do as you say when I get home, I can disconnect one of the magic eyes that I am using on my Sky which is in the kitchen and dont really use that tele.

    Fingers crossed.

    Thanks :)

Its not a FTA box, its a Sky box.

Yes, it's not a feature that's disabled when the subscription expires, unlike the recording/timeshifting ability on Sky+ boxes.
