BMW E90 Query

    Hi Folks,

Just looking for some advice here. The washer jets on our 2005 E90 stopped working about a week ago. Looking into the problem it was most likely that the reservoir was blocked with sludge. Not having any tools I had to drop it into a garage to have it looked at. The garage mentioned that to get at the reservoir on E90 the wheel and other bits and pieces had to come off. That's fine and in the end it cost just €50 so I have no issue and it's working fine.

What am I am curious is to know that, in the process of getting to the reservoir could they have somehow inadvertently affected the air conditioning in the car? Prior to dropping it in, it worked absolutely fine. Now tonight we had the heat turned up but it's freezing. There's absolutely zero heat coming from the aircon. It's blowing cold air
    just not warm air.

The garage is highly respected and I've no issue with their work. I'm wondering is it just an unfortunate coincidence or could they have accidentally hit/forgot to disconnect something and now we have no heat.

    Many thanks!

Check the coolant level when the engine is cold. The thermostat could of failed open, meaning too much cooling is going on. See if there's warm water in the radiator top hose when the car is warming up.

There is a little plastic pipe that runs over the top of the fan cowling which can leak a tiny bit of coolant.

Many thanks. The missus has mentioned that the coolant level might be low, so I'll top that up first thing in the morning and report back.

Right, topped up the coolant this morning and there's still no joy it seems. Will check the points mentioned above when I get home tonight.

I'm not sure how much coolant the reservoir holds but with a measure of coolant and some water I guess I put in about 1.5l of liquid? If there's warm water in the radiator.... what would that indicate?

Well we seem to be back in business. The only thing now is that while I've topped up enough (the float is where it should be), the coolant light isn't disappearing on the dash.

1.5L is a good bit of coolant to have to add to the system. Did you check the fan cowel for a clean spot where water is dripping from the pipe running over the top.
