Is it a SuperQ by any chance?
Had a similar problem with one last week.

    Is it getting very hot?
    Check your stat first.

Could you explain what you mean "the burner gets to first stage"?

Stat seems fine its an RBD burner i removed all the housing from around the burner and it was working as normal for an hour when i put housing back on it played up again

Run it without the housing, allow it switch off on temp and see with it start up on stat. If it dose not then you could have an air flow problem.

No,the houseing makes no difference.when you hear the hum noise, does the motor not rotate either before its meant to fire..,Also you said the burner comes back on when the system is cold.Is this still the case or will the burner not start at all now?

Done that and its starts and stops on stat

So it only acts up when the housing is fitted, am I correct?
Has it an oil operated air damper or manually set damper?

There is no oil operated damper on an rdb burner..

Your right agusta, found this http://www.rielloburners.co.uk/lumo/upload_documents/riello_rdb34technicalmanual29025872.pdf

If the motor is turning would he need to check if it's pumping oil?

Does this burner lock out, does the reset button light up ? do you need to push a button ?

Right lad thanks for all the reply friend of mine had a good look and very things working till it gets hot then suts down he checked all the volts from moter and the only thing that'd not working right is the solinode

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,590 ✭✭✭agusta

thats grand.so the hum noise you were hearing was actually the motor running continous, which in this case if the boiler/burner was hot would point to a faulty solonoid.

Constantly running RDB can be caused by bad photocell

I think in 5 years I have only come across about 2 coil problems in rdb burners now p cell are another story

Was a poorly described problem at times. Billy's last question (not last post), had it been answered, would have helped with pinning down the problem to a few components.

I agree with you, the OP didn't make it clear if the burner was locking out, but I didn't pick up that it was, so I presumed it wasn't.
In most cases, capacitor, pump, solenoid, burner will lock out, Photocell no.
