    1. Doesn't work.
    2. Means you like "dance" or "dancing (noun)" -- maybe you go to the ballet or you appreciate it as an art form
    3. Means you like dancing as in the verb -- you like to dance yourself

    Is breá liom ag damhsa.
    Is breá liom damhsa.
Is breá liom a bheith ag damhsa.
Scríobhfad an t-aistriúchán díreach chun na céille a léiriú.

Caithfear bheith ana-chúramach i dtaobh na hainme briathar, ó thaobh na céille de. Is ró-mhinic a ceaptar go bhfuil ciall bhriathar aige, is é sin:

    siúl = walking

ach, chun na fírinne a rá, is é seo a leanas an t-aistriúchán díreach:

    siúl = a walk

ainmfhocal 'sea í an ainm bhriathar Coimeád an smaoineamh san id' aigne agus léirfidh sé cuid mhaith den ghramadach na Gaelainne.

    Mar shampla:

Ba mhaith liom siúl = I would like a walk.

    agus ina theannta san:

Ba mhaith liom an bóthar do shiúl = I would like the road for a walk

    is é sin:

I would like the road for the purpose of a walk.

Ins an Ghaelainn atá againn inniu, deirtear an do mar a:
(Ach deirtear "do" i gCorca Dhuibhne agus Músgraí fós)

Ba mhaith liom an bóthar a shiúl

Sin í an chúis ná deirtear:

    Ba mhaith liom a shiúl

Níl aon chiall leis, is í a chiall ná:

Ba mhaith liom a shiúl = I would like for walk.

Cad is "I would like for a walk" ann? Níl aon chiall leis, agus is léir san má tá ciall na hainm briathar buailte isteach id' aigne.

    Anois, Tugaimís féachaint ar d'abairtí.

    1. Is breá liom ag damhsa.

Is bréa liom = I love
ag damhsa = at a dance

Is breá liom ag damhsa = I love at a dance.

Abairt gan chiall atá againn anso.

    2. Is breá liom damhsa.

    I love a dance.

Tá ciall ag an abairt sin. B'fhéid' nách é an chiall a theastaíonn uait, ach tá ciall aige gan aon agó.

    3. Is breá liom a bheith ag damhsa.

I love being at a dance.

Níl foirm den tsaghas "-ing" (an fhoirm leanúnach) sa teangain Ghaelach. Deireann an Gael "being at an X" le dhá mhíle blian chun "X-ing" a chur in iúl. Dá bhárr san, deirimídne "What are you at?" i mBéarla na hÉireann.

Is breá liom a bheith ag damhsa = I love being at a dance = I love dancing.

For anybody who is new to reading Irish, some odd points about my post above.

I say an ainm and na hainme, that's because ainm is feminine in Munster, not Masculine like the other dialects.

Gaelainn is the Munster form of Gaeilge.

Tugaimís is a reasonably uncommon form of the verb. It is the third person imperative plural, but more easily: "Let's give".

    Tugaimís féachaint = Let's give a look

(This demonstrates the point above, féachaint is "a look" not "looking".)
