I turned on the electric shower today and the water was freezing cold even though the dial was turned up to the last.

This is the first time it has happened although from time to time it used to go cold for just a few seconds.

Couldn't say for sure without testing with a multi meter first but if it is a mains shower the pressure may have dropped in your area. Does the low flow light come on?
It is possible that your elements have blown.
Its possible that the brushes in the shower have worn away.
Its most likely the TCO has blown.

Thats the best I can do with the limited information provided.
    Make & model would help.

    It's a Mira Elite ST

The Low Flow light doesn't come on when I turn it on, I opened the panel but don't know what I am looking at tBH.

Think I will just get the plumber in and see what he says.

Just to let you know most plumbers wouldn't know how to repair electric showers. You are much better off getting a shower repair company in. They will have any parts needed so it'll only be one visit.
There are plenty online if you google shower repair. :-)
