We're in the process of lookin for planning and trying to decide what we will use to heat the house and for hot water, we defo want something that uses solid fuel as we have bog and plenty of timber, I want a range as aswel as hot water and heated rads u can cook on it which I think is great, hubby thinks they too dirty and wants to put in a stove as a closer option to the range, one with a hot plate if possible. The main thing that hubby is now talking about is an outdoor furness, kinda like a large stove which goes outside in the shed for water and rads heat,I don't see the point of this as its gonna be keeping a shed warm, whereas if its a stove or range it who be keep in the kitchen its in warm aswell, the only big plus is that there is no dirty turf r timber bought in the house or ashes, has anyone any info on which would be best also for the amount of rads that they heat,we would have maybe 10 rads maybe 14 if we convert the attic, 3 of them would be small I think. We have an old stanley range in the house we're renting and is great, we would also have oil heating in the house that we build. Whats the best stoves and ranges? I would be Willi ng to spend a bit on it as I think it will save us money in the long run

Did you mean a gasification boiler? A boiler in the shed will not heat the shed.

Will you be cleaning out and bringing in fuel daily for the stove/range? Would this be easier if the fuel was next to the boiler in the shed and with a decent hw storage tank and insulated home is only lit ever 2/3 days..

You'll end up with a lot of photovoltaic panels or similar renewables if you go with oil. I appreciate this is an early question, but may I strongly suggest you look at the buildings compact design, solar passive options, energy consumption and ventilarion strategy all of which are more important at early design stage. When you know the consumption figures working out what type and what size of hearing system becomes a little easier. Also research 'part L of the current building regs' & new design/assigned certifer requirements ( read around the forum)
