The lack of a leader in the defence is so worrying at the moment . I think BR needs to try out a back 4 of

    Manquillo
    Lovren----Toure
    Moreno
    Lucas

I do think it's time to give Lucas even the starting position of DM and use Stevie G as a sub abit more .
In front of that I would go with Emre Can and Henderson . Then fill out the team with who is available or playing the best .

Thats what lovren was publicly brought in to do and he looks lost, all hes doing is shouting and waving his arms about. Severely worrying transfer.

I would prefer to see him beside Toure . I just get the feeling that skrtel at times is an accident waiting to happen .
Maybe some of toures leadership qualities would rub off him and he would actually feel comfortable leading the defence .
But then is the reason they are so all over the place is down to the fact that they don't trust mignolet at all ?

Ah now I think that's a bit much . The only defender we have that should be at home is glen Johnson . He has been poison for a year now .

Hands up everyone who watched the Skrtel/Costa 'duel' yesterday and who didn't think "yeah Costa is so gonna have the last laugh here"

If things aren't to work out for Rodgers and he gets the bullet, where do yye think he will end up.

Will he back at a club like Swansea or would he get a go at a club like City.

I would imagine drop down a level do a good Job at a decent size club and then maybe get a big job . That seems to be how it works .

Skrtel has been ever present more or less the past 16 months - 16 months where we probably shipped more league goals at a rate not seen in probably 30/40 years.

Should have got rid a few years ago when there were clubs interested

There's a book in it for him anyway.

Someone else said he has to work with what players he is given.....would be great if he did that.

I could see him getting a job similar to the Liverpool one in maybe Spain or Germany. e.g. Dortmund, Valencia, Sevilla.

Speaking of Dortmund, what has happened to them. In the relegation zone. Klopp must be under serious pressure.

Costa was being a boll()x yesterday. People talk alot about protection for players. If Costa v Skrtel was on the street in front of the cops, Costa would have been arrested. But the whole time I was wishing he was on our team doing it to Chelsea.:)

I have no problem with Rodgers, I'd even extend his contract. He is top drawer.
He cant play like last year, he doesn't have the personnel.
Sturridge back should offer a bit more of that and the formation we played.
We are trying to play counter attacking football, other teams see this and they are just taking down the man that is breaking with the ball at an expense of a yellow card, killing the attack and momentum.

After seeing Mario for a few games now, and cheering him on, he should revisit his postman analogy. I could have put away a few of his chances to be fair.
    I would drop him now.
The problem is that we have what I can see a very unfit Lambert coming in , but I think with a run of games, he'll get fitness and still score some goals on the way. Borini will work his socks off, but will never be prolific.
I'm still of the belief that when Sturridge returns, it will improve Mario. Young Daniel would link up well with Mario I hope.

As it stands, we are in 8th place, 4 points off 4th.....many off top place.
5 points off relegation places. A few wins on the trot gets us up the table quickly. A few L's on the trot, we wouldnt move down too much.
The rest of the teams we are competing against are making mistake like us.

Still in with a shot of getting out of the group in the Champs League.
Still in the FA Cup and other Cup.

^^^^^ i stopped at " he doesnt have the personnell" who bought the players, rodgers can only blame himself for the utter tripe that he has assembled this year, 100m+ and we have gone backwards:confused:

    Ah, here.

While i have been a fan of Rodgers since he brought Swansea up, its about time he showed a willingness and ability to improve the defensive side of the teams performances.

At this stage, all the players in the squad are those judged by him as being capable of doing a job for us, either as starters or as squad players. While appreciating the fact that they are for the most part young, he has far more quality in the squad than he had last year. He used the squad well last year to get results but seems incapable of doing the same this year.

The same mistakes are being repeated, game after game, playing Balotelli up front on his own being the most glaring. We may as well start with 10 players as put Balotelli up there on his own. Even yesterday, when Balotelli played well from the start, he reverted to his standard missing-in-action default position after 20 minutes.

Its difficult to beat any team with 11 players but almost impossible when you play 75+ minutes with only 10 players(bar QPR who kindly do our scoring for us)

Does anybody have any idea how many times Mario Balotelli has been caught offside since he joined us? I've never seen anything like it.

He has far more quality in the squad but far less quality in the first 11 due to the absence of Suarez and Sturridge.

Everyone is in agreement that results this season haven't been good enough. It's just a matter of whether fans believe he can get things back on track with time.

It would be fair to say there is also significantly less quality in the first team as the big money signings for the first team have not been successful to date.

Try as he might though, he'll never be another Djibril Cissé - when his head first popped out of the womb he was in an offside position.

Hernandez was the worst player I have ever seen for it.

Balotelli is still fairly bad though.

I think Balotelli still doesn't expect to be the furthest forward and is completely confused about his new role.

Liverpool target £10m-rated Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic in January transfer window..
Liverpool have targeted Asmir Begovic in the January transfer window.

The Merseyside club went after the Stoke stopper in the summer of 2013 but were frightened off by a £15million asking price.

Instead they went for £9m Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool conceded 50 Premier League goals in Mignolet’s first season - a record for a team finishing runners-up.

Begovic, 27, now has only 20 months left on his Stoke contract and might be prised away for around £10m.

I agree with this he is used to playing with a striking partner and being the one that comes deep for the ball and not he most forward player.

We all know playing on his own up front does not suit his style.

The manager for whatever reason doesn't want to or can't see it... both are not good signs in my eyes.

Don't ever believe anything you read in the Mirror.

I find it funny that people keep blaming goalkeepers and defenders when its clear that the real issue is defensive midfield. There is nobody there to jump on a breaking ball or cut out a pass.

Also tactically there are some issues. The set up for corners is not good. There is nobody up the field at all, everybody is back defending. It means that even when a ball is cleared that the opposition are on the attack once again. I just don't understand why Sterling is not left out the field a bit to try and use his pace to break from a cleared ball.

Have you ever watched a match with Darren Bent playing - that guy was born offside

Bad as it looks, it does not compare to when Djbril Cisse was here

One thing I cannot understand, we spend money on Llana, when he plays he appears to play well, yet as well as not making the starting 11 yesterday, he did not even make it on as a sub :(
Funnily enough, I felt the same way about Lambert yesterday morning, why exactly did Brendan buy him?

Mind blowing isn't it? And Stevie taking corners while Raheem & Joe Allen are in the box

It's completely baffling to me how he persists with this. The only conclusion is that he feels he needs to pack the midfield to protect the defence, which is obviously not working.

Would he not try putting Lallana behind Balotelli and Borini? Maybe Can, Lucas and Henderson in midfield...

There are some good and very good players in the squad, Rodgers has none of them playing well?!!
