Looking at replacing the mix of 2300 and Sora components on my Specialized Allez Comp. I'm looking at picking up a Veloce groupset to replace said components. My question is to do with the BB thread on the frame and would the Ultra Torque BB fit or would I require some adapter? I primarily use the Allez as a winter bike but I'm looking at picking up a power meter and would like to use it across all of my bikes of which this is the only one to use Shimano components. Any information on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

If the frame is English thread ( BSA) which I think it is then there's no problem- cups fit straight in...
For bb 30/ bb86 you'd require an adaptor

Just so happens I have a lovely ( almost new ) veloce groupset for sale...

If I can jump in quickly, what is the main difference between bottom brackets? I know there are two thread types, either English or Italian threaded, but after you get the right thread type is it just matching the BB to the groupset?

I'm told by a good friend who's a top bike mechanic that there are currently over 250 types / variations of bb available..

There are also Swiss threads/ French threads on older frames

The BB is usually specific to your crankset nowadays or at least the family of cranks- I.e shimano hollowtech bb works with nearly all model shimano cranks..
Obviously not cheaper stuff like square taper but upwards

I have an old BH MTB 26" (italian), it came with square taper cranks and BB, but all I have is the frame, so looking for a set of cranks and BB for it, so if it's Italian threaded all I need to do is make sure the BB is the same thread and matches the cranks?

Looking to rebilud the bike into a beater for the short trip to work, I actually thought it may take disc brakes too but I think it's just rack mounts.

Could be wrong but I think BH are Spanish..
    Anyway... Doesn't Matter..
Even if the Frame IS Italian Made it doesn't necessarily mean the threads are Italian...
I'd say a BH is BSA English thread..

I can check the thread anyways, but the rest I assume is right? Pick the right thread then match the BB to the cranks?
