I was assaulted a few weeks back which resulted in me having to get surgery as the person in question knifed me on the face leaving a very nasty scar across my face. I still have more hospital appointments and further surgery in 6 months time. This person is in prison at the moment as he didn't get bail. Still waiting for the case to be heard. The person who did this is unemployed and I believe has a history of violence. Do I have a case against him? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Sorry to hear about this.

First, you will have to have to take legal advice as to whether you have a stateable action against your attacker, because the forum charter does not allow legal advice on this forum.

Secondly, it is possible for people who are the victims of criminal injuries to claim certain expenses from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Trubunal.

I don't wish to trespass on the above or the legal advice rule. So I offer this as practical advice only - there is no point in civilally persuing someone with no money. Co-operate fully with the criminal prosecution though.

(At work no spell check, sorry)
