I have Sky broadband and am getting speeds of 1.80 to 2.50mbps :(
We were waiting on efiber to come into our area, it's now here but our line can
only take max 3mbps still, even though our whole area is covered in green on
the fiber map no one around here can get more then 3mbps........

I only recently noticed that I am able to get up to 9mbps on my phone just outside
    my window(less inside)
So I'm wondering if I get mobile broadband are the speeds reliable?
Will bad weather affect it etc.
Also would I be able to get a small antenna, put it on the side of the house outside
and hook it up to the 3G router?

    Any advice appreciated!

Unless you're gonna use very little data, 3G is a terrible idea. You might get an allowance of 20/30 gb per month.

The ONLY worthwhile mobile connection I'd suggest trying is THREE's 60GB package, every other mobile broadband offerings are too restrictive.

As with regards to the connection itself, I'm using THREE on 4G myself and I'm getting a consistent 30-45mb with pings of 30-40ms. Gaming perfectly fine, streams HD 1080 videos no problem.

Worth a try. If you are, I'd strongly recommend going for the package with the Huawei B593s-22 router (Has great reception [and you can greatly improve on that with external antennas], and allows for networking [being able to network your house using PowerLine adapters is a God send]).

Thanks for your reply, what antenna would you recommend to be
    Used with the huawei b593?
I'll either put it in the attic or attach it to the side of the house
Depends which gets the best speeds!!

Are you sure of that? Are they really only getting 3 meg on eFibre?

3G/4G is a terrible idea if you have a better option - I'd only go with them as a last resort.

Eircom say this area is fiber ready......it's not!!
Only 1 housing estate in the whole area has fiber, and from what I'm hearing
we won't be getting it anytime soon.
I'm a good bit away from my local cabinet and 3meg is all ive been able to get for years!

First of you'd want to make sure you can get 4G in your area first --- you can always order to try it, and send it back during your week's cool down period, and you won't get charged, or shouldn't be.

Comes in a 12month and 18month contract unfortunately, might be an issue if you're getting fibre sooner than that.

If you can get 4G in your area, and if you want to get the best possible signal... the best antenna currently on the market for 3G/4G is the A-LPDA-0092.

    Demo of it:
