A piece on the Irish Indo appears to show Flybe's CEO Saad Hammad ex-easyJet has an interest in Stobart Air. Unsurprising I suppose given Stobart Air's unbelievable success in the last four years, would be sad to see it gobbled up so early on.

Considering Flybe have been a bit wobbly recently maybe they should shore up there own house before they expand again.

With cash of nearly a billion AL should have brought Flybe when it was about to go broke. I think at the time it was worth less than 50m for 51%. Would have provided many a laugh as it formed part of FRs "remedy" package as well as branding for AL to access UK commuter markets and feed the long haul. Another missed opportunity......

Given that stobart only exists due to its licensing agreements with AL then it's strange that Flybe would be interested in the first place.

What a pile of rubbish! Aer Arrann were a moderatly successful stand alone airline in its own right. Expansion with the EI contract has seen its fleet, staff numbers and profits grow. Not forgetting the FlyBe contract that they have as well. Things are on the up for the airline in a big way.

    Technically you are both correct.

Aer Arann was a moderately successful company until the loss of the many PSO routes. After that the financial realities set in and the company went into Examinership.

They emerged from Examinership as a restructured company helped by the franchise agreement and then by the intervention of Stobart's.

The Flybe news is interesting as Stobarts are already operating a franchise agreement and wet lease for them.

RE were skint with an uncertain future prior to the franchise deal - it wasn't 2006 anymore

I read that report, and short of shaking a magic 8 ball I dont think it could have been any more vague!

Does this mean they won't be buying EI and flying A320 s around Europe? :)

Flybe couldn't afford to buy any airline these days. That's what's making me chuckle they just about have their house in order after they nearly went to the wall.
