Cost for reconditioning alloys

I've a 99 Hilux that is loosing pressure when stood up for over a week. Tyres are a year old and new valves put in about 6 months ago. I've been told that the state of the alloys might lead to them not forming a good seal with the tyre thus resulting in a loss of air pressure.

So my question is - how much/how long would it take to get the wheels reconditioned? Would I be better off just buying new steel wheels?

Sometimes old rubber can be left from rim of tyre or even last or previous valves.

If you get the wheels and get the rim on the wheel scrubbed cleand with a wire brush this should take off the old bits.

I had this trouble myself and the tyre fitter took them off cleaned around and now holding well.

    Worth a shot.

The alloy could be cracked. If that's the problem you need to get it repaired/welded. €50-€80

Does a hilux have alloys? If so they could have gone porous, and if so they are scrap.

    This^^
IMO Alloys have no place on a 4x4, they are weak and suffer a multitude of problems that steel wheels don't suffer from.
