I have just heard about this product from OREGON and they claim its 97% Biodegradable. It is a concentrate you mix with water at 1 oil:4 water. I heard that you cannot leave it in the tank overnight as it can gunk the tank up. suppost to smell like a polymer too. Has anyone used it?

didn't hear of it. Sounds like a nuisance if ya can't leave it in the tank though.

I just run with rapeseed oil. 100% bio degradable, and it hasn't caused any problems for me. I run it in various saws, but my 044R sees the most use with it. With the high output oiler nearly maxed, I run out of fuel first before oil.

I have some of that Arborol, maybe useful if you are cutting in a watercourse or body of water that can't take a load of mineral oil.
I wouldn't like to leave it in a saw for long as water can do bad things to pumps over time.
Put it this way for most of my cutting I use Alco bar oil, if I ever have to cut in a sensitive area I would use the Arborol for that job and then (thoroughly) drain and flush the saw with normal bar oil.

I am very tempted to go your route Reindeer and give it a try, so I will. Any particular shop/brand you could recommend?

I just use whatever rapeseed I find. The only caveat is not to leave it in the saw in freezing temperatures unless you want to have to flush it.

Here's the rapeseed in my ported 044R:

Thank you for the advice, I'm convinced and will try it shortly and let you know what I think.

US Forest Service was considering it as far back as 1998:

Canola/Rapeseed are not as tacky as standard chain oil, but I find they do not need to be since they lubricate just as well and I can turn the oiler down a tad usually.

I've not used it in a saw but the "vegetable oil" that you can get in Lidl is rapeseed oil. €1.35 a litre if I remember correctly.
